Portland based 3-String Stephen has made his way across the US, performing at as many cigar box guitar festivals as possible.
This former Tree People guitarist has a style that mixes spoken word, drone acoustics, ethereal soundscapes and poetry into a unique "freak folk" style.

I saw Three String Stephen for the first time this year on the live broadcast from York PA CBG festival. Certainly different and the first time I've heard spoken word with CBG. Different is good if you ask me. Without different everything would be the same and who would want that? I enjoyed his performance at York PA and this is a good insight into the man behind the music. Thanks for sharing.
Yup, I've enjoyed his unique performances in York for the last several years. He's like a cool blend of Beatnik poetry with some repeated CBG riffs as accompaniement. One of a kind for sure!
