I had no problems with the 120 or so I built that way.,.,most of mine were piezo powered.,.,but several had mag pickups.,.,lots of tonal differences depending how much of the neck touches the lid.,.,plus lids come in lots of different thicknesses.,.,over time I just evolved to a 2 piece banjo style neck.,.,that gives me the most options for the least amount of fuss.,.,.,cheers.,

Hi Brent, yep it worked for me on the guitar shown here. Neck does not touch the top though as that would kill the acoustic sound.
I can open the box and the guitar stays tuned, as shown.
