I have built a neck with a 17" truss in. The scale length is 24". The truss runs out 3" before the neck enters the box. Unlike a regular guitar part of the fret board it on the body, my box is sligjtly short for this. Does it matter if the truss is not the entire length of the over henging neck?

  • Thanks mate for your answer, I have profiled the neck down thin like a strat & will be using it mainly tuned higher in open g so I installed it to be safe.
  • Most folks don't bother with a truss rod for a 3 or 4 string model. There really isn't enough string tension to require one.

In your case, the length of the truss rod probably doesn't matter all that much.
