Brand new to this and in the build of a guitar but bought a Blues box guitar in the meantime to start to learn on. Here is my main issue, I strum an open note then when I put the slide on to play another note the strings vibrate against the slide. I know it must be a technique but how do you pick it up?

Another technique is "Palm Muting" using the heel of the pick-hand to damper the strings (right next to the bridge) or mute them (farther from the bridge).
One technique to reduce the rattle is accomplished by damping the strings with the finger that follows behind the slide (behind, meaning the finger that is above the slide-wearing finger). It takes a bit of practice and timing.
