So on the front page of the Stew-Mac website I see This. He he. And it seems they have taken my idea too!'

Oh well, what can ya do. So if any of you out there that think the Harbor Freight Japanese Flush Cut Saw won't be as good as the one listed here... Heh. My $9 cheapo saw works as good if not better.

(Keep in mind, I'm not really bitchin'. If I had $110 I'd buy one.)

  • You're really paying for the miter box.  They're pretty cool (if it's the one I think it is).  They're built in such a way that the fretboard rides a pre-notched template that locks into place in the miter box.  As long as your fret board is properly zero indexed to the template, all you do is slide it until the template locks in place, make a cut.  Slide, lock, cut.  Repeat.
  • And as we continue in our daily builds.....we can all share our ideas with one enother to help build some dang shit gitten instruments and play some good old stompen tunes. 8-)

  • They stole it from the Chinese who in turn stole it from me. Damn then Chinese!

You're all bloody thieves, you bastards!!!

I have one of those Harbor Freight saws too.  I stole the idea from using it from Wichita Sam.  I think he stole it from the Japanese.  If a Japanese saw is made in China, is it still a Japanese saw?

  • Gee Michael, thanks.

When I sold them the idea I was going to add your name to the list of inventors Wes, but it wouldn't fit on the check along with mine. Sorry. ; )

  • And you can save a whopping $6.52 when you buy them together.

  • Unfortunately, ideas are a dime a dozen. Bringing that idea into reality is the real hard part. Finally realizing your dream is priceless. What makes this idea even better, is that it is just a marrage of two already existing tools. A Japanese saw and a miter box. Enjoy.
  • In reality, they've had that setup for a while now I'm sure. I think it's cool tho that they propose a Japanese pull-type saw over their own 'brand'. The Nation really IS a revolutionay site :-) .
