Knocked up a banjo uke from an 8 inch hand drum and have noticed that the calfskin head is prone to reacting to changes in the weather.
Any ideas how to stabilise it?

Many of us banjo players use a waterproofing spray found in camping stores. Here's the one I've used with some success. In extreme humidity I still use the old fashioned method of holding a candle under the head or using a hairdryer for several minutes to tighten the head back up. It's just one of the things we deal with in exchange for the warm,organic sound of a natural material.
Any thoughts on how to protect goatskin from dobermans? : /
