Fellows:
I'm super pumped about building (and playing) my very first CBG (Yes when I get going on the build I will put up picis and such for you) I've been looking at lots of photos of said instruments and have seen some with sound holes that look like a metal (?) dolbro type cover on them...I seem to remember a reference to pie plates at one point, what are those covers on the sound holes made from? are they store bought or will some sort of thin metal with holes in it work just fine? or am I totaly confised and this has never been done...
Thanks
Jay

There's a lot of different approaches. If you're making a resonator guitar, then the cover part functions both to cover up the actual resonator and to act as a soundhole as well; thus all the holes.
I made one out of a cheap aluminum pot lid; just drilled it full of holes. Other guys have used all sorts of things, or even "found" items that happened to be the right size.
For a more professional look, you can buy the small covers that are made for resonator ukuleles and mandolins.
