Hi Guys I have just found out about CBG and I would really love to make a resonator cbg, today on e bay I bought a stainless steel storage tin measuring 8.5" in diameter and 2.5"deep will this be to stiff for a resinator.senior citizen Mal (UK)
John where do you get your boxes from ,I don't seem to be get one any where.I also bought a smaller stainless steel plate yesterday I think that might just be betterMal
Usually with a resonator, you drop the lid into the top (that's what I did with my tin-lid ones) or support it on some sort of soundwell (as with this one I'm making with a uke cone). Don't put holes in the lid /reso, put some soundholes into the body. Basically, the resonator bit is acting like a loudspeaker cone, and the body is the loudspeaker enclosure..so you want some "ports" or soundholes in the body.
I am having trouble getting a box anyway so I shall make one, for a resonator do you make the guitar solid and give the resonator a tight fit and would it be amplified with it in side the box and would it need any holes cutting in the lid Mal

Mal..the thing is with all this sort of stuff,, you've just got to try it..if it works it works...
Are you using the whole thing banjo style or just the lid? You'll need a big box for an 8 1/2" diameter tin.
