old newby to cbg

Hi Guys I have just found out about CBG and I would really love to make a resonator cbg,today on e bay I bought a stainless steel  storage tin measuring 8.5" in diameter and 2.5"deep will this be to stiff for a resinator.senior citizen Mal (UK)

  • John where do you get your boxes from ,I don't seem to be get one any where.I also bought a smaller stainless steel plate yesterday I think that might just be betterMal

  • Usually with a resonator, you drop the lid into the top (that's what I did with my tin-lid ones)  or support it on some sort of soundwell (as with this one I'm making with a uke cone). Don't put holes in the lid /reso, put some soundholes into the body. Basically, the resonator bit is acting like a loudspeaker cone, and the body is the loudspeaker enclosure..so you want some "ports" or soundholes in the body.

  • I am having trouble getting a box anyway so I shall make one, for a resonator do you make the guitar solid and give the resonator a tight fit and would it be amplified with it in side the box and would it need any holes cutting in the lid Mal
