One of the ways I get better as a cigar box guitar player is to study other slide guitarists. I first saw this video pop up on my Facebook timeline a couple months ago and my mind was blown. Appearing here is Nicolle Brown, a.k.a. Nikki D of Nikki D and the Browns, a Toledo, OH based gospel quartet in the Sacred Steel tradition.
Instead of just sharing the video on my Facebook timeline, I tracked Nikki D down and actually interviewed her! The interview has just been published by Guitar World Magazine here.
As musicians who play unusual instruments, I would encourage you all to go out of your comfort zone, listen to new things and get inquisitive. You never know what you'll find!

Feeling the music! It's great that she names her lap steels.
I don't know what to say but wow.

LOL! Yeah, she's rockin in the spirit. I dig it.
I wish I could find a better example, but having seen this guy live a few times, doing tributes to Hendrix, Buddy Miles, BB KIng among others, I can tell you, when he cuts loose on the guit-steel its nutZ! Its just how they roll in Texas!

Oh wow! And that's her playing in church. She'd cut a lot of heads at a jam for sure!
