Here's the story. I have a name. Within my full name there is a unique spelling for the middle name. There is a very famous off road racer. With lots of wins in his long and very prolific carrier. He also has a name. With the VERY same odd middle name spelling. What are the odds of having the same full name? Even farther odds of the same odd spelled middle name. Then the odds that one of you is famous? Astronomical!!!! So completely astronomical that when I used my full real name on my first ever face book page I got a surprise. THOUSANDS of people wanting to know more about my cars and how many I have.......... One. A very nice four door chevy. I ended up deleting my first face book account. Because i didn't want to look like one of those  trying to use someone else to get attention. Even though it is our real name I'd be using. (how may people do you know that can actually say that)  So that's where the fake name came in. Gorgonupshots Feetsupover. i was almost sure no one else would have that name. When I did this I knew I was breaking facebook's user agreement. No fake names. So I'm not mad at them. I'm the bad guy here. And in truth never really used my page for anything. The only reason I wanted a page is so I can view other peoples and events pages. Now I'm locked out. Until I make a different email address and come back with some sort of name that face book will allow. But won't divert people from the famous off road racer.

Hopefully they'll allow something like 'first name' then 'Cause the Rat' then  my, and that very famous off road racer's last name. So i can go back on face book and keep updated on conventions and events I'm fallowing.

The moral of the story is, don't bet on the odds. There will always be some one like my to take your money. Someone who's very name is astronomically improvable and defies all odds. : )

  • Got a new facebook page up. To answer some questions. No. i couldn't use P. Cause the Rat. (my last name). Wouldn't let me. But now i will be able to go to needed facebook pages. I never plan on doing anything with this page. Not even planning on telling folks I hang around with that i have a new one. Never used the old one.

  • Thanks Paul. That would be something to look into. Shame I cant used my initials only. P.S.E. Wonder if I could use a fake middle name. P Silent E? : ) Or fake the first two. Patrooding Silent E. That might get me back to where I am now. But almost to funny to pass up doing. : )  In any case it'll be a dead page with no content.

    • How about: Not The Other Guy. Hahahaha

  • Thanks folks. Both my middle and last name are really uncommon. Which makes this totally improvable. I really don't like my middle name. So that's out. I'll give the stage name in the middle a try. See what happens.

As far as telling people I'm not the same named off road racer. I tried. Most of them thought it was a joke. I didn't want to harm this guys rep so i bowed out. What makes this even weirder is we are almost the same age. : 0

Google plus is easy to get rid of. Just go into your control panel and dis allow everything. Including search history. You end up with a blank page.

    • If the other person uses their full name, can you just provide an initial for your middle name?

  • Wonder if you flipped your middle and first name around, if the problem would go away. You could put in your information also, that you are not the racer they are looking for, then maybe it would stop. Besides, anyone who wants to befriend you, you have to approve anyways. I don't use my middle name, or initial on fb. Another idea use an initial for first, then middle name.

  • I've known of people using a forum screen name as their middle name on FB. Seemed to work out OK. Can't say if that's still the case as I've been off it for 18 months or so.

  • I can relate...  I was fine until a certain NBA basketball player became famous a few years ago... even though he spells the first name differently.

  • I can relate to that a bit Cause, as I have a reasonably uncommon surname, and here in Australia, the guy who seems to win country artist of the year regularly is Lee Kernaghan, never met him, and we are related, and i've met his dad as a young pup, but I named my 1st boy Lee, without an awareness of the, then, future recording artist, sadly my young guy has passed, but his friends often brought canvas advertising concert  signs from the other Lee's gigs, and my Lee was not amused, as country he was not!

  • wow. so how do they cope wilth the hundreds of John Smith's then??? do they all have only the one page? lol
