I've seen someone play a Nyckelharpa live. Really interesting instrument. There is plenty difference between a Nyckelharpa and a Hurdy Gurdy. A HG uses a rosined wheel to vibrate the strings. It also has drone strings that play all the time. Kind of like a violin version of a bagpipe.

Fantastic stuff!! It looks like the guy with the fur hat playing erhu might be using the broad side of his fingernail as a sort of slide on the strings! This gives me too much new stuff to try.
