I got a slide from Randy at Mojo Bone Works the other day. Randy makes beautiful slides from bone and a variety of other materials, mostly exotic hardwoods. These slides are absolutely gorgeous!
Pictures don’t do it justice. The model I got is a half & half, with bone on one side and cocobolo hardwood on the other.
I can’t play slide to save my life, but I gave it a few licks anyway. The bone produces a mellower tone than the metal or glass slides do. It also has a less “slippery” feel to it, meaning it doesn’t skitter all over the strings like the metal and glass models do. I think it gave me a better feel of the strings.
Check them out at CB Gittys!

2012 batch of Mojobone Works " 1/2 n 1/2 " slides
Thanks guys !! at least i know i`m making them right with comments like that. Soon gitty will have the 2012 batch of my slides for sale, alot of new exotic top woods and a few with multicolored spectraply on. As with all my slides there made from cow bone and grade A+ woods and sanded to a smooth finish.
I've got two of his slides: a long one and a stubby. I prefer brass, but these have truly unique characteristics that make them worth having around.
