Most of Mike's guitars are a simple piezo disc, no built-in pre-amp.
That surprises me that he can get such good sound and charge topdollar with a disc piezo setup.
He winds his own single coils or if there is no visible pickup on front he uses piezos with a foot pedal preamp when recording...he has a fantastic sound!!!
According to his web site he winds his own single coil pickups.
