Hey Big Ben here
so planning on making a bass canjo,1 or 2 strings.
so I got bass tuners, bass string, a big peanut can, and c.b.gittey canjo neck.
so on you tube video from c.b gittey canjo essential they showed on there bass canjo had a brace in the neck went in side the can. Is there a matching brace on the back of the can?
what's the best way to attach a can to the neck so not to hinder the resonates?
I beseech you elder for any wisdom you would have.

Ben, Gitty has quite a few instructional books on building & playing, well worth a look? There's a Build a Canjo book that's pretty informative, they have a printed version as well as an ebook version that costs half price of the hardcopy one?

Yes, there is two, the neck sits in it like a cradle? The best way is to cut a piece of wood same size as the interior diameter of the can, then cut that in half, leaving you with two half rounds. Cut a notch in the center of each & screw the neck to them, then screw them to the can from the outside? But, you want to position the back brace so that it doesn't touch the back of the can, say 1/8"-3/16" from the end? This will allow the can to resonate freely, but make sure your scale length measures from the outer edge of the end of the can to the middle of the nut? FYI- if you go to the Resources tab, there's free plans & if you go to the Posts tab, there's groups where you can find answers & ask questions? Also if you go to the very top of the page, there's a Search box, type whatever key words & you'll get all the available discussions on the topic. Sometimes you will have to reword things to get hits, but that's a given? Most people say they can't find anything there, but you look younger than most here, so I know your not internet illiterate 😎 Cheers🍻 and Welcome to your new addiction ✌🏽
Thank you for the tips that a really big help.
