In the never ending quest for the perfect action height, when you’ve gone as far as you dare with filing the nut, and you start attacking the bridge.
AND—- BUZZ! Yup, D string fretted at second fret, and oh damn, a buzz on the third fret. I says to myself, self, ya dun gone too far. So I whipped out a sheet of 90# index card stock (.0076” thick) I just happened to have, cut three little feet for the walnut bridge, and used a skinny memory of wood glue (wiped it off with paper towel until only a little tack remained), and stuck the paper feet to the bottom of the bridge, raising it up probably just about .008”.
I almost stole the bridge off another guitar temporarily to file to fit this one, but this was better. I got to keep it very darn close to the bottom, while defeating the dreaded buzz.
So next time somebody presses a cheapo thin business card into your hand, throw it in your spares box.

Sometimes small thin spacers make a big difference. Sometimes I get good results out of 2 cents.
Love to see a man with a plan.If it don't work, fix it and move on. Good Job!
