lessons

OK.   I've made em,  strung em and tuned em, now all I gotta do is play em !

I am thinking that I should get a few lessons at least just to learn a bit of basic theory about cords and stuff. So do I look for a tutor of guitar, banjo, or ukelele? Or does it matter?

  • Search YouTube for "Cigar Box Guitar Lesson" to get a few basic ideas and pick one or two that you seem to connect with.  That will get you started.

  • A lot of people will benefit a lot more from a little personal time with a guitar teacher than anybody on video. Any half decent guitar teacher will have very little trouble adapting some material for your cigar box guitar. If you look in your local paper etc and ring around you might even find a few who'll trade three or four lessons for one, try it
    • Thankyou gentlemen.

I believe that I will follow all of your advice. I think in my case it will be benifical if I have some one keep keeping me honest. Whilst I am very self critcal during construction, I am not the one to pass judgement on the playing.

  • Why not start with some of the lesson vids here? Knotlenny's, Shane Speal's, Keni Lee Burgess, Justin Johnson, turtlehead, Uncle John...all have lessons here on CBN. Just Search on them...
