  • eeek! or yum yum?

  • And that's the reason I ain't gonna be playing it at the local park!
I'd love to put a pickup in it, but is made of such a lightweight, almost fragile plastic I'm scared to put too much on it. Of course, I can't open it, which makes it all the more difficult to build support for a pickup.
I've got two more of these bodies-local army surplus saw what I was doing with cigar boxes, and gave me a dummy, so I built a guitar for them and traded it for three more dummies. This one is a lot nicer and better sounding than the first one...but I've learned a lot since then.
Danged bridge is really too tall, and the strings are really too far off the neck down near the body, but since it's build for a slide, figure it's a even trade, 'cause it rings real nice...I'm hoping it does well for the fellers it's going to.
    • A bridge with embedded piezo rod pickup would work, get one intended for a resonator guitar.

You could make scarf joint where the neck joins the body to get a better angle and action. It would take a little figuring but it's totally doable.

  • woulda  been  cool as a stomp  box  too  ;-)

even  better as a suprize   gift   ;-)

    • Hehe...picture it...local park...sunny afternoon...families with dogs and children running amok...guy playing this thing...cop with former military training in EOD catches a glance of the instrument...instant "Stop or I'll shoot" moment occurs...hilarity ensues.

  • Oh hell, that could get you arrested in some places...cool build.

The thing just begs to have a biscuit with under saddle piezo bridge.

  • Couple more pics...

I've actually build one like this before, but it had a real twangy, almost banjo like sound.  This one is really mellow sounding.  I really don't want to give it up, but I don't have time to build another...
