Hi, I haven't built a solid body guitar for a while, so here's one now.
This has been built for my grandson and it may not come as a surprise when I mention that he plays cricket very well, and plays guitar great too. He sent me a video of a guy playing one of these at the opening of a big cricket tournament recently, and I asked if he would like one.
Surprise, three days later a cricket bat ,brand new, arrives in the mail. He's also the agent for this brand of bat. I already had the cheap hardtail bridge from China [not a knock off] but I had to order the tuners. They are the locking type, from China also not a branded copy, but dirt cheap. I have seen worse on customers guitars.
Anyway, the pickup is one I swapped out of a customers guitar, a heavy metal style humbucker as was the neck.
Its hard to play without a strap so I fitted strap buttons after working out the best balance point. It also needed its own special guitar stand.
There's a few of these around but I have not seen many on here, but there probably is.
Thanks for looking, Taff

That is just TOO COOL for words.
The bat is a perfect body for a guitar and anyone familiar with the game will recognize it immediately. \
Your grandson should be a hit anywhere he plays this one.
Nice work
I love instruments build out of objects meant for something else. I've got a pair of crutches in the garage waiting to become lap steels, myself. The stand is the real kicker for me. Nice.
Hi, thanks for the (smart) comments guys. Some stages had me stumped, but I did not run out of ideas. This one would be a keeper it is wasn't promised to its new owner.
As luck would have it the humbucker came from a B C Rich heavy metal style guitar, and that is among the styles this guy plays.
Have you ever trained someone to do something and they turn out better than you? Some years ago my grandson and I went to a Tommy Emmanuel concert, when we got home he went to his bedroom and within about 15minutes had one of the songs from the concert worked out.

Great build, you really hit the cricket theme for six!
That's great, hope he likes it and gets a lot of play time out of it.
It's a smashing success! Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)
Very nice twist on the CBG. That looks like a really well thought out build.
nice job Taff, missed an oportunity to use bails as the top of the guitar stand..lol
