I am just finishing up a couple of CBGs with piezos. I like the sound. My question is on future builds: What would be a good passive pickup that would be a little more refined than the piezo and still be fairly easy to install, and not real expensive... tia

I have used covered humbuckers in some of my builds so far with great success for a louder heavier sound, also Elmar Zeilhofer's flatpups from Klangbox are excellent quality and value, and CB Gitty's rod piezos give an amazing sound on clean though don't like being overdriven. Many members make and sell their own single coils and humbuckers on the 'Nation, from the promo videos they all sound brilliant - plenty of choice out there if you look! (-:
In my opinion the next step is to a magnetic pickup. They are much easier to control feedback problems through the amp than piezos and with the right pots volume and tone controls is all around better.
