My wife & son have snickered, but they've put up with me swinging through the "craft" section at wally-world and even the few calculating stares at household objects. When we left last week on a cruise to the Bahamas, I was told - NO! you can't pack the CBG! 5 days! I mean five f#*&%ng days! No internet, nuthin.
But, alas, there was a "cigar-bar" on the ship that catered to the aloof. Y'all know what's coming right? I just had to know what they did with the empty boxes. Short story - scored two nice boxes and got 'em hid in the dirty clothes before the wife even knew it. Sun & relaxation aint all bad....

I flew to a friends place out of town last month and could not take a cbg also. Only good thing was he's a musician and I was able to grab one of his guitars to at least keep the shakes at bay. But it was still not the same. I did score a couple of cigar boxes while there though
i've become obsessed, i will admit it, however its not with finding items to make into guitars, its string arrangments (crow is obcessed with items to make into guitars). i was just at a 2 concerts this weekend, at the rock concert i was watching the bassists and figuring out new string arrangments and ways of playing and at the Stomp concert sunday (if you havent seen em look em up, they ROCK) i was watching everythhing they were using trying to figure out a makeshift trapset out of junk. lol maybe i NEED a week without any just to calm my mind and let me focus on my responsibilities, like that will ever happen.
Hi my name is shawn and I'm a CBG addict. I get up everyday and start building with my coffee in one hand and a ruler in the other before I know it two hours have gone by. I eat then return to working on the build then find it's 3:00 pm lunch the back at it. The wife gets home from work at 6:00 and I still have not taken a shower. I just can't stop building and playing them little things each one gives me ideas for the next one. Help I'm an addict and I can't slow down.
oh yay thanks, ive been doing alot of lookin around an havent found hardly anything except the basics of guitar building.

Dude, sorry I missed you on chat. Three prong jack is prolly a stereo jack or a bypass jack. You need a mono tho this might work. the black wire of the piezo gets soldered to the sleeve (inside of the jack that goes around the long shaft of the plug and the red gets soldered to the part that connects to the tip of the plug.
The tuner thing depends on how much you have to spend. I get them for $12 for 6 (3R/3L) on ebay.

I too take more time to select boxes. As I find what boxes sell fastest,I buy only those boxes now.The days of taking whatever was available are over.
Now its based on the 2 week time limit.I build a CBG thinking it'll sell in less then 2 weeks. If its still on the display wall after that time , I RETHINK it out before I build another like it.
I still enjoy building CBG's but I dont have the time or patience to wait until that special person comes along to buy that CBG.Time and the RENT moves on.I try to figure out what CBG's appeal to the most people ,and build accordingly.
Before the economy tanked this MALL enjoyed between 1.3 to 1.5 MILLION people through the doors a year. It's considerably less now but still do-able IF you pick carefully when you build.
I got it something bad, in fact I think there should be a 12 step group for us. Not that I would ever go, but still. I too have to (kind of) hide my new box scores only because "I have not done anything with the other 15 I have yet". LOL All in good time my friends!!!!!!!! But she always finds 'em, and never the worse for doing so. In fact more thimes than not she thinks the new box is beautiful, but then she gets on me about doing something with it. This can not be forced. I will see a box everyday for a month and not come up with something for it, and then one day it hits me!!!!!!!!!
MAN I LOVE THIS HOBBY (if you want to call it that, I say its a life style)
