Home made tuners

Well, I tried the eyebolt thing but was not quite happy with it.  So i re-worked it and came up with this idea-

The wingnuts provide tension, and the plastic knobs allow me to control my tuning a bit better.  Rather than tie the string on, it is sandwiched between two nuts.  here is the side view.

  • So far it seem to do fine. I can lower the nut to tuner angle by tightening the screws a bit more.

Really using REAL tuners is the way to go, but this was my first CBG, so it is kind of an experiment. I will work out what I loke, and what i don't, and then I will make corrections on my next one.

I have a blog where I keep track of my progress- www.threestringguitar.wordpress.com

  • Does it hold its tune long? Looks like the angle from the nut to the tuner is a straight line, it may pop out of the nut grooves. I tried a simular setup with the wing nut for tension but I drilled a hole for the string right thru the bolt. It seemed to work ok.
