Right ive gone and made a classic mistake. I was drilling holes for the string retainer above the nut and used the wrong sized drill bit i.e. too big for the screw!! Now I know i could go and get a bigger screw but dont want it to look too big and clunky.....
Any ideas for filling out the screw? As in could i just put some glue down the hole screw it in and let it dry? The hole is only a tiny bit too big but enough that it will slip when i put tension on the strings.
Rookie error :(

Yep - toothpicks and wood glue or even plain white Elmer's glue. Shove the toothpick in and crack it off flush. You might not even have to wait for it to dry, just screw it in.
Ditto on the toothpick. Have effectively used many times. Also use some sawdust of the same color tone as the area surrounding the hole. Mix the sawdust with wood glue and you have a wood filler that matches almost perfectly and is very strong.
leave to dry. Cut flush with a sharp blade and then it should hold the string retainer screw.
ok .. i'm restraining myself from commenting to "hole . screw , and neck " in the same sentence ..
so moving on ....
lol
if its just a tiny bit bigger try dropping a tiny drop of water in it and let it dry , that will swell the wood . then put some glue around the screw when ya scew it in .
you can also try to fix a few different ways on a scrap piece and see what works best . im sure you'll get a few ideas here ,
bigger screw aint a bad fix either .and probably the best .
