Hi Y'all,
I just got a fully fretted neck from CB Gitty and was wondering if anyone had any advice for fitting a bone nut? There is no fingerboard to provide a ledge to offer the nut up to, just the neck itself and a nicely made scarf joint. I'm nervous about cutting a slot into the neck too deeply to fit a bone nut for fear of weakening the neck.
What do you do and do you have any pictures of your nuts?

Ahhhh, I see, nice approach. Still using bone but fitted like a bolt or all thread nut....sweet.
The zero fret idea is good too, I suppose if I wasn't set on using bone I could fit a brass strip or even surface mount a bit of heavy-ish brass angle....hmmmmmm

Another option would be to do a zero fret, and just cut a slot deep enough for the tang on a piece of jumbo fret wire.

Bone rod , i just used a round file to make seat
