And just to be a compleat arsehole with my answer, if you use a small metal hobbyist hammer as your slide, well...you'll figure it out ;-)

Esssentially Yankee Dog is correct but if you whack it down too hard you can get a lot of noise that you may not want. A student of mine asked me how to avoid this so I posted this video on youtube that may help. It's not specifically about hammering but if you've already got a basic idea it wil help you improve your technique.

Put the slide on your finger of choice. Whack the strings where you want the note to be. You have performed a hammer.

Press the slide against the strings where you want the note to be. Pluck the string. Pull the slide off quickly and straight. You have performed a pull off.

Try searching you tube for 'legato tutorial'... There should be no technical difference from a regular guitar :)
