Hello there. I am going to build my first cigar box guitar and can use some help with choosing wood type for the neck. I think I have everything else but would like to carve out a decent neck/headstock. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Any hardwood you can get your hands on,it's great if you can reclaim something that's being discarded,I've used stair handrails,an old linen chest lid and old skirting board. It's also nice if you can find a contrasting timber for your fingerboard

I use Red Oak because it's readily available, inexpensive and strong. Also use it for fretboards.
