I have enjoyed searching around the site and reading posts about Chord Shapes. Lots of good, clear advice and diagrams. But I have not been able to find the chord shape for Bm with 4 string open G tuning.

I have tuned GDgb and I am trying to learn a fairly simple song where the chords go E, Bm, A, E.

Can anyone help me out? I have no musical theory or background to rely on. Help?

  • If you have a smartphone or tablet there is a great free app called 'Smart Chord' which I use all the time. You can set up different instruments on it, including 4 string CBG in whatever tuning you wish. So now rather then spending 10 minutes working out how to play Bbdim7add9 or whatever, I just look it up on there.

    • I wish that app was available for ipad.
      • Here's several I use on the iPad:

        ChordBank

        UkeBank

And especially, ChordGenie Pro (it was worth spending the money for)

You can set up different number of strings and different tunings, and just look 'em up like Richey does.

Also, you can look here for hundreds of chords, in all keys, for GDGB tuning:

        • Just my luck, I went to the app store to get ChordGenie Pro and it's no longer available. I'll check out the others though. Thanks.
I enquired with the developers as to whether they had any plans to port Smart Chord to IOS and they said they aren't going to.
    • Thats amazing. I will have to check it out.

      Thanks Richey.

    • Turtlehead, this is awesome! now I can figure out a variety of songs as long I can find the chords.

I am thinking of taking Pat Curly's 4 string course as a next step.

      I appreciate your help.
