I keep seeing references to cigar boxes being used for purses, but I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of anyone actually having one.
Has anyone ever seen someone carrying a cigar box purse?

i dont think the idea is to use them as an everyday purse .. ive seen women sporting them at car shows and bike events etc .. other women will not be to impressed with them ,, as per the reasons "suspect device " mentioned .. but in a "guy crowd " its better than hot cakes .

Well I confess I had to make one for the saleslady at one of the cigar shops I do biz with. Believe it or not there`s sites just for the hardware to make those things. My good deed got me some beautiful boxes in return.
I see them all the time. I am sure there are exceptions, but from what I hear from the fashionista ladies in-the-know, cigar boxes actually make pretty lousy purses. They usually need to hot-glue so much satin lining & crap inside that there's barely enough room for lipstick & a cellphone. They don't open the right way, the hardware/hinges/hasps don't hold up with constant opening/closing and they fall apart, "Form-before-function" is often okay with women's accessories, ...just not when it comes to purses.
That said, over weekend my neighbor had a yard sale & I gave her a bunch of empty cigar boxes to sell to "crafters". I think she sold 30 or 40 of the "purse-sized" ones.
I saw one at a flea market or somewhere like that. It was in one of those trapezoid shape boxes that sort of have a purse shape. Didn't match my shoes so I didn't buy it.
