1 is "waterslide" the best?
2 does it have a transparent background?
3 Can you run the sheet through the printer more than once? Hate to waste a sheet for one decal.
4 Damn, I forgot 1!

Hi, It depends upon just how dark the background is - the dragon and the flames above are clear waterslide paper. This too is clear waterslide but the transfer was a vibrant red before it was applied by the kids.
These 2 are on eggshell waterslide for comparison (although the white background would have taken a clear waterslide)
I am not sure what others have found but for this batch of waterslide paper it did seem to fragment easier than the clear stuff (as you can see in the M and A of Thomas). I didn't notice how bad this was until I took the picture - one to redo I think. Regards, David Paul Doug said:
So, of coarse I ordered clear and I want it on a dark background! Does the white background show up on dark wood? I would like the backgroung to be transparent.

Yep, I agree with everyone else!
Waterslides are cool - just remember to buy the right paper (inkjet or laser printer?) and the right background. The clear stuff is totally useless on dark backgrounds, so get the white if thats the case. If its a pale background, get the clear so you dont have to cut it out!
And post some pics when you are done! :o)
The white background is opaque Paul, so the colours stay exactly as you see them on the paper, regardless of what background you put them on - if you dont want a white border around your image, you need to cut it out very carefully.
The transparent background is ONLY any good for pale backgrounds - it is ok on pale woods too. I tried using clear stuff on a drak blue guitar - you would be amazed how totally the image became invisible!

Paul, do you use Microsoft Word? Actually you can scale the font even to huge sizes if you don't select one of the given font sizes, but type just one size in the selection box for the font size (for example 350). At least that works for me. Also there is a thing called "wordart" in MS Word where you can apply shades and other things to the letters. Hope that helps...
Edit: It seems that on "wordart" the maximum font size is limited to 96. But you can drag it with the mouse to larger sizes.

A related question. Word softwae doen't go to a big enoungh font size for what I want. Is there software online somewhere that gives more options?

Hi, As Ted's example demonstrates they work well for that. Nice thing too is that if you don't like the result they come off easily (until given the final overspray of varnish). I have found that for bigger decals it can be a pain getting rid of air bubbles (these were done by the local primary school kids as a project)
Also the metallic colours don't work due to the limitations of my inkjet printer. Good luck, David Paul Doug said:
Wow, Dave that is very nice of you to say. Thank you. I'm making a guitar for a guy. his wife wants to give it to him for Christmas. I want to put his name on it with fancy letters. I though decals would do the trick.

Hi Paul, I have just had time to look at your pictures and seeing what you are able to make out of wood blows away anything that decal paper can copy.
