Nice to be back with the CBG folks. I've been gone for a couple of years. Trying to find time to get back into building and have a question for the group. Does anyone know a good source for those cheapie wood bridges that you insert the strings through the end of the bridge? They are usually anchored to the instrument by a couple of bolts and nuts that are capped with a couple of pearloid buttons like fret markers. You see these kind of bridges on the cheap imported "backpacker" guitars on Ebay. I thought they might be useful for both 4 and 6 string applications.
Thanks,
Ron

Would it not be possible to simply make one yourself?
You only need a bit of dry nutwood or rosewood and a bone from the local butchers to get it going.
No real mystic to it at all.
These look like a typical uke bridge. I know Stu Mac sells 4 stringers for about $8 (or $4 ea if you buy 12) they come with a bone blank. You may have some luck with a uke parts supplier for six strings.

I see what you are after now - never seen one sold on its own so no help I am affraid.
You might have more look if you post it in the "Building secrets,Tips, Advice, Discussion" bit of the forum as it seems to get a quicker turn over for questions and answers.
Thanks David, but the bridges I'm looking for bolt to the instrument body. The strings pass through the bridge and over the saddle. The ball end of the strings keep the strings from passing through the bridge.
Have bought several metal bridges off http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/bezdez and rate them very highly - they sell numerous types of bridges at a good price ,good quality and very helpful.

Nearest I could find are for classical guitars which would need a bit cut off each side to get the shape you want

If anyone knows where I can get this kind, I'd appreciate it. But no biggie if I don't.
Thanks again,
Ron
Not sure if this is what you mean, they are cheap and cheerful and you don't need bridge pins.
