Building a piezo buffer preamp

I had found several sites that had schematics for building small preamps that would work with a piezo transducer. I thought I understood them, so I went ahead and ordered some parts, then found that the parts I ordered did not look anything like what the diagram showed. Clearly, I did not know what I was doing. I looked at: http://scotthelmke.com/Mint-box-buffer.html and : http://www.diyguitarist.com/Guitars/PiezoBuffer.htm Is there a site anywhere that is more for Dummies like me and has more elaborate instructions on how to put them together?

My friend Walter is credited on the first one. Here's his version.

He sells them, but also has information about building them, with a few photos. I don't know if it'll help, but maybe it's another piece of the puzzle.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I built one today, I just need to get it to my buddy so he can try it with his amp.
