Hey guys, I'm looking to put a couple small resonator-type objects in the sound holes of the CBG I'm currently building. What have you found to be the best found-object resonators, both in terms of looks and for the sound they add?

Yeah, I think my next build might include a resonator cone, but this one's already too far along to sink one into the soundboard. I guess I just don't like the idea of open sound holes and I'm looking for something to put in there, I wasn't really looking for something to resonate.
Lots of people use kitchen drain inserts fromi HD or Lowe's, many people use the screened and / or unscreened grommets as shown in Dan's C.B. Gitty link above. Pieces of old screen door work, too. They don't really resonate, though.
Commercial resonator cones are very thin but also sturdy enough to support the downward pressure of the strings. Don't use something too stiff or the strings will not have enough energy to cause it to vibrate. Regardless of what you use, think that it needs to be similar to a banjo skin; flexible but supportive. Enjoy your build, Keni Lee

If you are just looking for something to put in the sound holes as opposed to making an actual resonator, try something like this:

I just used a basket from an old camping coffee pot. It worked great.
