Bass Drum

Hey All,

Another newbie here.  I'm trying to find something (preferably not a drum machine) to keep the beat like a bass drum while I'm playing my fretless 3 string.  I built a "foot stomp box" out of an old Pepsi crate, it works fine but it isn't deep like a bass drum.  Any ideas?

Thanks, Sam

So I went to the Salvation Army thrift store and found an old beat up hardside black suitcase with all of the lining falling out. When I asked how much it was the lady said, "If you need a suitcase bad enough to take that one, you can have it!". I gave her a buck anyway.....

  • Note to self:
    1. go to thrift stores look for suitcase
    2. go to home depot for 2x4 and brackets
    3. look for drum pedal on ebay

Do you think my little practice bass amp would work?

I've got a piezo cigar stomp box, which I run through a bass amp with the treble down and the bass up, it works out all right. It's not a bass drum, but then again it cost under five bucks!

  • Hey Sam, how about an old mic element in a plastic barrel?
  • I have a small practice bass amp, will that do the job?
  • Thanks all for your input!
