Baseball bat neck??

Hi all, I am considering a build for a friend who is a BIG Chicago Cubs fan. I have an idea for using a baseball bat for the neck and was wondering if any of you have ever tried it, see any problems, etc., so forth. He doesn't play guitar, so I am sure it would just be wall art to him. Anybody care to offer any other baseball related ideas?
