Besides the old serling silver boxes that cost thousands, are there boxes that should not be used? I just purchased a box that dates back to 1883. An internal revenue stamp dated 1883 encompasses nearly the entire far left side of the box. It is a early little havna box from NYC. After buying it I'm not sure about using it. Both of those boxes are great. Good material for building. I'm always looking at boxes with the thoughts of how they will look and sound when done. You bought them to build, not look at. Go for it!

I'd use it. I don't generally use the word "mojo", but that box certainly has it. But be sure to pick some really great wood for the neck/fingerboard. Gotta do it justice!
I would use it but I would first double check to make sure it's not worth a hell of a lot more than $10 bucks. Apperently not as you bought it off evilbay for $10, but ya never know if you may have that one box that the Antique Roadshow says is worth a quarter of a mil.
It's a fantastic box, I'd be tempted to use it, but to be fair I bought this one and didn't have the heart to massacre it...

I'd probably use the one you have, but keep the cutting down to a minimum.
