I'm calling this one "Proof of Concept" because there's so much wrong with it, but it plays. Some might have said I should "learn to play an instrument" first, but the microphone on my PC says it's in tune (EAD like the top of a 6-string; can I even do anything with that, or should I re-string?), and I'll figure out the rest later, possibly on a later build.
Nice first build. You are working out the hardest things for the new builder... "basic geometry" (neck lenght, scale, etc) and string height. As far as learning to play first, forget it. Do what you can do, the rest will happen. You can build, so build. The fascination of hearing your own CBG, will motivate you to play. Sit down with youtube and play along... rock, blues, country, folk, gospel... what ever. .. simple open chords will work with almost any song.
Thanks, guys; I appreciate the kind words. I tried to play a few tunes using Dulcimer DAD tabs, and the rotten contraption about dislocated my fingers. So, I pried up the nut and sanded away enough material to re-seat it and have my strings much lower, at least up around the first few frets. Glue is drying now and I'll restring it tomorrow. It's amazing how much you learn on just one build.
way cool dude! I like EBE or EAE tuning on the three stringers, that way it follows the barre chord scale of a six string, so you can play slide along with records that are in standard tuning. Nice sound hole man, kinda like an old Richenbacher.

That is the way firsts builds often go, you learn, modify, get it the way that suits you and you are then happy to be off on your own.
