I bought a kit from cbgitty for an amp build. Soldered it up .. It seemed to work ok. But really no fuzz or crunch. And not much volume. Could my soldering be the reason .. I am planning on putting the kit in a better box. The one it's in now is pressed wood. Thanks in advance for any tips

  • Don't just look for a larger speaker, look for one that is 8 ohms like Scott said.

  • Try the little Phillips again, turn it clockwise to the stop and you should get more volume and "crunch". Sure worked on mine.

  • Thanks scott... I did turn that little Phillips ... No change. I will take your advice and search for a larger speaker... Thanks for the help
  • 1st: pressed wood not good for amps...go with wood box....2nd: the Artec amp circuit should have a trim pot (small white dial on underside, with a + shaped slot for phillips screwdriver. If you turn to adjust that pot, it will change the tone/gain and give more "crunch". 3rd: might be good idea to look around at your local thrift shop (goodwill, value village, etc.) for used stereo speakers...you need one that fits in box of course, but looking for speakers rated at 8 ohms and from 2-5 watts for best sound.
