  • I bought an actual end dressing file off ebay for about what half stewmac charges.
  • On that note, I have seen (recently) a tip that uses cut pieces of soda can as fretboard shields.

    Back in the old days before recrowning files, they used a triangular file. You would move the file over each side of the fret to simulate a curve. You can get them at any hardware store for cheap. You should grind down the triangular edges a bit to keep from damaging the fret board.
