I call it my Puke!
This started as a freindly wager with a guy at work after he bought a low end tenor ukulele for £200, I decided I could build one for a tenth of that and the bet was on. Unfortunatley after buying strings, fret wire, machine heads and volume pots I was left with about £1.50 so everything else is salvaged.
The neck is a one piece bolt on with a white ash fret board, the box is self built from a pallet at work and covered in decoupage (toccata and fugue in D minor and the back is a complete ukulele chord chart) The reso is a small dog bowl and the soundboard is steel from an old stack cd player. The bridge is saddle-less and is just a piece of lamb shank with holes drilled. I self wound a pickup using a ring magnet and mounted it underneath the reso bowl to try to keep some of the reso sound, also a piezo disc on the underside of the sound board.
Strings haven't arrived yet but i couldnt wait so pilfered some from my other concert ukulele so the sound isn't as full as it should be and my amp has decided to pack in before i videoed it.
So how much do you guys usually spend? I know some folks spend nothing and some spend a lot but I love seeing examples of ingenuity through lack of funds!
Some pics.

Great playing too!
Cheers $30 is about what this cost I think. Don't think cheaper is possible without not using machine heads and fret wire.
my builds usually cost (in parts) between $30 to $50. This is great build by the way.
Looks great! I prefer guitars made out of salvaged bits and pieces. Cheapest one I made was £6, a one string broom handle in a box. My most expensive cost about £35 to make, they average out about £20 ish.
Oh you have a very hairy settee/bed! :D
4 dogs! very hairy indeed, didn't notice all the hairs until i uploaded them... my first one cost over £60 i think...
