The headstock is 28 mm wide or 1 1/8 inches.I constructed the neck using Michael J King's (www.michaeljking.com) stick dulcimer plans.
I bought the tuners from from the local guitar store - I guess they are standard.
I am thinking of doing the holed/slotted headstock idea but have a couple of questions.
How wide is your headstock ?
Are standard tuners used ( if there is such a thing ) for them to bridge the distance and be secure ?
