yes, yes, and yes.

The smell of cutting or grinding bone is just like the dentist. bone is bone. Thank you for sharing to all of us Dave. Learning on this site is very gratifying. Can't wait to see the nut groove video. As we all are. :)

Anybody want to know an "easy" way to taper a fingerboard.?

Thanks Andries. Yes, cutting bone is smelly. A strange smell. Not stinky though. It lingers in my shop for a day or so. The bone box doesn’t stink though. Daniel asked for a demo but I made it for all Nation friends. I love to see any video on methods. I’ve learned a lot from you generous friends.

Thanks Greg. I use the “little at a time” approach to string height. I like deep notches in my nut so I do a little filing at a time till I get down to a workable height. If the. String is too high at the nut it will pull the note on the first fret sharp when fingered. It will be hard on the finger if too high also. I make sure my notch is angled toward the tuner shaft and angled in the right direction. I aim my needle file from the nut to the tuner shaft as I file. I guess this process could use a diy video. :D). I’ll do one for you.

Great video Dave!  I needed some learning on shaping the nut,  I think I am going to the dog bone approach.  I am very fortunate I have a shop equipped with a ban saw and valued priced belt sander.

Maybe one on setting string height?

Just have to give an old Dog his bone Richard. Daniel. There’s some slides there too! Your dog does a good job polishing his chews.

A very nice presentation Dave! I throughly enjoyed watching a true craftsman build his marvelous creation, albeit this time a step by step making a bone nut. Great video!

Nice tool chest. i have two, one in the drawer of a larger tool chest, with pieces of bone and stuff for nuts and bridges, then there's this one in the living room, below. my dog's toy chest. untapped resources i think after watching dave's vide:
