Thanks Denis. I don't think I need the 50 watt power of the amp but I'm thinking the price might be too good to pass on. I've been doing a bit of the old Google since asking the question and found a couple of posts from CBN saying it shouldn't be a problem too. Looked on YouTube and saw Scott Grove talking about 6, 7, 8 and 10 string electric guitars through a bass amp but wasn't sure if the same applied to threes and fours. Now I know!

Thanks again. I really, really appreciate it. Might have to buy myself an early Christmas present now haha.

I can't think of any reason why you can't play a CBG through a bass amp. In my (very) long ago youth, we plugged guitars bass and vocals through the same amp.

Two things you might want to think are size and volume. It'll be a heavy thing to cart around, and do you want something that loud. I had a fantasy of getting a 100w Marshall with 2 4x12 cabinets. I made the fantasy come true and I played it for a couple of months, with my wife out of the house and after warning the neighbours. For me, it was overkill.

I have put together a couple of really easy to build, cheap amps based on the LMM386 chip, and it's plenty loud enough for home use at less than a single watt of power

Hi all. Got a quick question here. Can I play a CBG (3,4 & 6 string) through a 50watt bass amp? I've just been offered a gorgeous condition one for a bargain price and wondering if I should get it as I don't play, nor do I fancy learning, bass guitar.

Help greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention, if anyone is looking to book a hotel. I got a pretty good deal at the Novotel. £88 for two nights. Pretty close to the venue too.
