I'm suprized at the lack of activity in here. I thought this would be one of the busiest groups. So anyway, my latest build is from wood saved from the trash trucks grip. Over 100 yr old black…Continue

I work at a Hotel and next door is a dinner. Well at 2 pm everyday they close up and there own happy hours start, cigars wine and cheese. I have got 13 Mac p.o.w. boxes and 4 other smaller boxes! We share our dumpster with them! I get about one Box a month! Pretty cool.

Ya'll making progress?
All I have to do is a bit of shaping, sanding, and to pretty it up a bit.
Then drill holes for the strings in the tailpiece.
And figure out something for the strings.

I constantly scan my surroundings for things to use. I grab a hatbox or something and start tapping on on it to see how it sounds and my fiends and family immediately grab the Item from me, or say no..."You cant make a guitar out of that, its mine." They know what time it is. No hollow box nor wooden stick safe and thrown away or forgotten stuff makes the deal even sweeter. I haven't done any building in reguards with your contest yet but all of my guitars were made from recycled materials until about the 8 or 9 one, when I had to buy some strings. Peace

I'm tossing my hat into the ring.
The biggest reason .... I had a good day on the salvage run.
Even decided to hit the tobacco stores for boxes.
Scored a Macanudo Porto Fina Cafe! And an Indian Tabac.

But I'm not gonna use these in this build.

Actually, I had come up with a new tuner design. the strings were the only part not from scrap, they were a few used strings from when I restrung my strat.

Let me say, I also think Shane has done a great job with this website, and I'm thankful to be part of it,
I'm just a little bummed out that I wont have an entry ready for the contest.

@collin
good luck with the electrics! once you figure them out, you'll want to turn around and put pickups in everything you own!! LOL
nowadays i just don't consider an instrument "complete" unless i can plug it in and perform with it. the best part is, i can now electrify anything with a $2 jack at radio shack and a $1 beepy toy/keyring/smoke detector from a dollar store.

ahh the joys of harvesting piezo disks!!!!
