Checkin out your pics, truely inspiring. Love your adventurous way of constructing bridge, tailpiece, nut, all of it. Great photos too, with all the different color leaves on the ground, and the woodpile. Makes me nostalgic for my childhood in New England. Rock on dude, Peace, Joe"

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee

Thanks for checking out my video! I remember you saying something about improvising and making up chords using the slide,I meant to ask you about where you get info on the chords, but then I came across Fret.zip. I clicked on it and downloaded a file on making chords up no matter how many strings or tuning you used! Try it out and see if you like it ,I think it is awesome! Steve

Thanks Joe, I really didn't know where to start on that first one. My friends at Johnny Guitar happened to have this Epi parts guitar they sold me for 25 bucks. That and the beautiful Perdomo box i happened across, turned out to be a really nice guitar. I'm hooked.
I think you 've got some great looking guitars there . Sounds good too.
Rock on!
Dave

Thanks for your answer. Yeah I did the same for my first build and I heard of the toothpicks and cotter pin method. I built a second and was gonna try frets , but when I stuck a cotter pin in the first fret position I could already see problems. Plus I too do like the fretless feel. I think its great the work you do at the hospital, my mother has been in a few times , she's paranoid schizophrenic. You workers may not be told , but you are doing some real good. It is really hard on the other family members, and you guys are very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to chat some more, Steve

Hi ,Joe What do you use for frets on your CBGs?
At 2:37pm on April 15, 2009, Steve Winchell said…
The bridge and nut are made of deer antler. Easy enough to hacksaw and then you can flatten out a side to sit how you want it with a file or sand it , I used a beltsander on the bridge, then just file some slots for the strings!

After I mounted the can to the box, I drilled a hole through the can and box so the sound would resonate all the way through. The can does increase the volume and it adds a tonal variation.

Really, really nice builds. I especially like the Johnny Cash one. I was actually thinking of using that same pic on one of my builds...a custom job as a gift for a friend.
