Quick question on fixing a Gibson humbucker.

I have an older Gibson humbucker that the height tabs broke off of. I am going to JB weild an attachment for the tab part and have a question on that. Does the metal I attach to the pup have to be non-magnetic?

Most plates are made out of brass or a nickel silver. However the JB weld will not be magnetic so in Theory since the screw height adjustment is made of steel any tab metal should work as it will have the JB in-between the tab and base plate. I could be way off. I would also suggest heavily sanding both pcs before joining them with the JB weld so it has a better contact to hold them together oh and clean them really good any finger oil / dust will make make the joint weak.
