I was given a vintage cigar box and some hardwoods with the stipulation: make a cigar box from it! It was supposed to be a purely decorative piece, but it ended up being a pretty cool instrument.

  • It's close to a 1x2... I had to rip it from a larger piece, so it's approximately a typical 1x2 :-)
  • Thanks Nathan, drilling the holes and cutting hole-to-hole with a coping saw makes sense and it's easy. What are the dimensions of your neck? Just a single 1x2?

  • Yeah... I figure since it was originally going to be nothing more than a wall ornament, it turned out better than expected. I used all wood that she gave me, which gives it sentimental value for her: her late husband was a woodworker, and it was from his stash that she pulled the wood from.
