I have a single pole pickup under the low G string and running out a separate line into an octave pedal and then into the amp. Since I’m just playing 1-finger chords where the low g string is the bass note, so it suits that style. It does fatten up the sound. It’s an idea I got from John Nickel (https://youtu.be/zrV6P_z_IqQ) and allows him to take cigar box guitar playing to a whole new level! My results have been more modest, but satisfying!
