This is an old American spiritual song and has been recorded by many people.The earliest recording I've heard of is by The Elders McIntorsh and Edwards' Sanctified Singers in 1928, then there were many others, including Odetta, Mississippi John Hurt, Furry Lewis, Mississippi Fred McDowell...and finally Uncle John & bemuzic!!!I would never have thought of singing this type of song, but had fun doing it : -)
