Spin-N-Shake

Demo of spinning two necked guitar. Both ends of the strap are mounted to a single screw with 3 fender washers. I glued a block of wood to the neck (in the center of the box) to support the spinner. This 6' guitar vibrates like mad. When struck upright the whole instrument shakes for a unique vibrato effect.

  • I'm a bit of a newbie, after reading up on a few things I used felt pads to keep my transducer from going nuts... big strings stay!

  • Thanks all for the support!  This is such a great community!  @ ED I'm using a piezo transducer so I got what I paid for :)  I'm working on a third CBG and I'm going to scrap the good pieces from a bad diddley bow and use a real pickup (and replace the pickup with a piezo on the reconfigured bow)... I'll definitely keep an eye out for bushings too.

  • Crazy cool build man!!

  • RE: your comment about changing the strings - If'n it was mine (and it isn't) I wouldn't change the strings out.  I can't see for sure, but I don't see a mag pickup.  I'd get a flat mag pickup for both sides instead of a piezo and that will cut down some on the sliding noise.  You might also try a different slide.  I use the steel bushings from the hardware cabinets at Lowes where they have all the funky screws, split pins, etc.  They don't make as much noise sliding on the strings.

  • that's brilliant!!!

  • Fantastic and weird and wonderful and strange and .....  Fascinating instrument.

  • Whoa, look at that its propellor man!

  • Interesting...

  • Perhaps if Darth Maul had this then he would have made it to EP II.

    Very nice. Sounds great.
