Satelight Demo

A quick demo of my first build where I converted a beatup Satellite 3/4 scale bass into a 4 string cigar box guitar.http://www.cigarboxnation.com/profiles/blogs/rough-cuts-and-adjustable-ideasThe first test is just acoustic, then the piezo pickups. I did variations on the magnetic pickup settings but the camera mike didn't really show the difference so I skipped to playing a song which I originally wrote as a bass riff on the Satellite many years ago. Hope you enjoy the Satelight version.

  • looks good, sounds good and i like the song you wrote. played it several times. play some more!!!

  • very nice got to love the first one !!!

  • Thanks Wes.

Forgot to mention, it's tuned GDGB. I tried rerecording the pickup settings without boost, but I can blame the camera mike for the issues there - it's not getting enough of the high frequencies to really show the difference between the settings. The tune in the video was played in a mid position between the 8900pf and diode settings with tone set at about 6 or 7. The camera doesn't even record the difference between the diodes and the 8900pf let alone the subtle changes in the mid positions. When I can play a bit better I'll see about recording the audio separately to the video..

  • Oops.. There's a bit more distortion than I intended. When editing video I thought it was the camera mike being crap, but just noticed I'd accidentally hit the boost button on the amp at some point (probably changing leads from piezo to pickup), so that'd explain it.
