Digly this was done that way but with speaker plugged in.Will unplug and try

Yes. Looking at the back of the amp, un-plug the speaker cable from the 'output' panel on the top right hand corner. Run a cable from 'line out' to you recorder. The amp has an auto-switched dummy load so you can use it with the speaker disconnected.
See 'amp outputs', which is 2 pages from the back of the manual.

Di throught to a tascam dp009 from my bugera rat fitted with vintage mullards....
level a little high on input , so did another track in my music to try again with a slight lower level (sound quality)
